Cernunnos Shrine completion

On Saturday July 16th at sundown, we completed a two year project to build a Shrine to Cernunnos.  There are earlier blog entries here that describe the process of building the structure.  This entry describes the final touches and the consecration.

We crowd funded for some of the funds and sold four engraved tiles, four 8x8 inch bricks and ten 4x8 inch bricks.  The tiles are on the sides of the Shrine and the bricks are laid in the walkway in front of the Shrine.

We also sold several t-shirts, mugs and icons.  The total we have raised to date is just over $5000.  Our backers have been awesome and generous and we are so thankful!

The white panels on each side of the main artwork describe who Cernunnos is and display a prayer to him.

Prayer to Cernunnos

The consecration ceremony started with making an offering to the Outdwellers and inviting the Earth Mother and Ogmios as Bardic Inspiration.  We invited Garanus the Crane as the Gatekeeper and then each of the Kindreds.

Making offering to the Ancestors

We made personal offerings as a group, drew a great omen (Salmon, Cat, Crane and Boar), and drank the Waters of Life.  Next we proceeded to Cernunnos’ Shrine and read all 45 names of the people who had contributed to funding the Shrine.  Then we raised energy through toning and chanting while purifying and asperging the Shrine.

We culminated with one big dramatic burst of whiskey into the fire and Cernunnos’ welcome into our midst and White Mountain Druid Sanctuary was complete.  We proceeded back to the main Stone Circle and thanked all the attendees and concluded.
