Poet, scholar and storyteller Steven Posch was raised in the hardwood forests of western Pennsylvania by white-tailed deer. (That's the story, anyway.) He emigrated to Paganistan in 1979 and by sheer dint of personality has become one of Lake Country's foremost men-in-black. He is current keeper of the Minnesota Ooser.

    Mr. Posch,

Right now I'm reading Book (Chapter) 9 of The Republic, by Plato. By the Gods, he sounds like Nostradamus when he discusses how democracy collapses into tyranny. Eventually, Plato writes, the tyrant turns to foreigners who can help satisfy his boundless greed and lust...betraying his own people and ultimately those closest to him.

Human nature never changes. Someone who had the filmmaking skills could literally shoot a documentary on Plato's Republic, with passages about the rise of the tyrant and how he corrupts his followers and everyone around him...as captions beneath relevant video footage and twitter quotes by President Trump.
