Asatru and Heathen religion in the modern age was the topic of my recent appearance on The Bard's Archive. This is a video interview, and includes some cute video of my cat Happy. Viewers also get to see my main house altar. I got so wrapped up in the topic, when Garret asked at the end if I had anything to add, I forgot to say "Buy my book!" lol. The link to the video appears at the end of this post, below my other news.

Oracle Of Initiation In Review

On March 6th through to March 8th I attended the North West Tarot Symposium, or NWTS. This was their maiden conference and I have to say I was incredibly impressed. The quality of the speakers and workshops was outstanding. And I include myself and my workshop partner Amy Barilla in that mix. My number one aim at any conference is to network with as many fascinating people as possible. OK fascinating to me. And I was not disappointed.

Over the next few months I will be featuring some of these incredible peeps on this blog, but I had to start with the one person who just impressed me to my core. This goddess is a piece of work and I mean that in the most empowering way possible. Mellissae Lucia is truly a trail blazing diva and her story not only needs to be told, but retold over and over again.

A New Face in Canadian Pagan Music: Tara Rice

Tara Rice is a brand-new Pagan artist from Toronto, Ontario.  She contacted me via my website to ask me to listen to her new single.  I was enchanted!  I immediately invited her to join our Canadian Pagan music anthology project (now set for this November) and asked if she'd be willing to do an interview.  She's a friendly and enthusiastic but professional young woman and I was impressed with her thoughtful answers.  You can find more information on her or her music at her website: www.tararice.com.

Modern Witch interview with Courtney Weber

Author, tarot creator, and pagan leader Courtney Weber joined me on the latest episode of The Modern Witch Podcast. Our conversation was such a blast that I had to send her a few more questions. For the full interview head on over to The Modern Witch PodCast.

DH: The New York pagan scene has been exploding over the past few years. As a pagan Leader within that community what would you say are some of the major reasons for this renaissance?

Magical Musings Podcast Interview

It's finals time, folks, as well as being one of the most intense Yule seasons that I can recall in a very long time. I"ve been swimming in work both academic and spiritual and so I must apologize for not posting as much here. That will change, I am sure, with the turning of the year.

In the meantime, so y'all can see I'm not quite as much of a slacker as it may seem ^_^ I'm posting a recent interview that I did with Magical Musings podcast. We covered some topics that I think are tremendously important to the polytheistic community as a whole and Heathenry in particular and while the interview was close to two hours (not sure what the edited version here ended up being--I wasn't involved in whittling it into shape for airing) I had a hell of a good time.

When I met Mari Powers in Mimosa, a downtown gift shop in Madison, WI, I had been a nameless customer who could read the tarot to a limited point but remained curious about the ability of others who claimed they read the tarot – especially others who read for a fee. With no small amount of skepticism and plenty of time on my underemployed but not quite poorly paid hands, I shrugged oh, what the hell and marched into the softly lit room. On a corner table, eleven decks with beautiful artwork hypnotized me. Any mesmerism gave way to frustration when Mari Powers directed me to choose a deck for my reading. As it turned out, this wasn't a session in which the querent sat back and listened to what influences impacted her life in the past, present, and future. Mari expected the client to take notes on a lay-out sheet during the session, take the sheets home, and think about how the influences manifested in her or his life. The idea of doing any work hadn't exactly appealed to me. Mari impressed me, nevertheless. She seemed to care about whether or not the questioner understood the reading. She didn't shy away from offering advice on any problem area that plagued the seeker.
