Middle Earth Magic: Inspired Ideas and Seasonal Spells for Your Enchanted Life
I grew up on a farm in West Virginia and learned much about herbs, trees, animals, gardening, foraging and so much about nature. I incorporate this wisdom I learned from elders in my family into my spellwork. When I finally left the farm, I majored in Medieval Studies, my attempt to emulate my idol, J.R.R. Tolkien. All these influences led me to my own blended brew which I call "middle earth magic," containing a mix of the modern and the time-tested "old ways."
The Magical Spectrum: Candle Colors in Your Spellwork
Candle magic is a mainstay of witchcraft. I burn candles every night and take them with me when traveling, too. For their magic to work, simply apply the basic percepts of color magic: have a clear intention of your desired outcome, and choose the appropriate color candle from the following list. On the corresponding day begin burning the candle on your altar. Repeat this ritual for seven consecutive days with the same color candle. If you’re a traveling, choose a spot to consecrate as an altar using the prosperity altar incantation at the beginning of this chapter.
Sunday
The Sun rules this day; use gold or red to affect a boss, a promotion, health, fame, success.
Monday
The moon rules this day; use silver or orange to affect home, subordinates, the emotions.
Tuesday
Planet Mars rules; yellow is the color to affect aggressions, sex, conflict, confidence.
Wednesday
Mercury Rules; green is the color to affect communication, study, quicker intelligence.
Thursday
Jupiter rules; the color blue affects medical and legal issues, miney, spirit, integrity, safety, security.
Friday
Venus rules; use indigo to affect aesthetics and beauty, marriage, relationships, theater, art, music, family.
Saturday
Saturn rules; black is the color to affect judgment, obstacles, property.
