The summer is a busy time for White Mountain Druid Sanctuary.  Covid 19 has cancelled most of the Trout Lake Abbey events (which includes the Mt. Adams Zen Temple), but Kirk Thomas has still been working hard on adding to the grounds.  Much of the work only requires one person, so he has been doing a lot himself. Let’s look at the Shrines to the Dagda and the Morrigan.  They have mostly been complete for years, but there have been some finishing touches added.  About a year ago, signs were added so people could read about who these deities are.

Recently, cabinets have been added under the shelves that hold the incense and small offerings.  Incense and a lighter are kept at each shrine so people can walk the grounds and leave incense at each altar.

As features have been added to the grounds, accessibility has been a concern.  The main gravel walkway is difficult because it is long and getting a truck in there has so far not been possible so Kirk is still working on a solution.  However, each of the shrines has pavers placed leading up to it which also gives them a nice finished look.

Across from the shrine to the Morrigan, a bench has been placed.  WMDS can get very hot in the summer and most of the benches for the shrines are in the sun.  This bench is in the shade under the birches year round with a view of both shrines.  In the background is the building that is the Sanctuary and little bit of the Stone Circle.  It also has been finished with pavers.  Kirk places all of these pavers by hand.
