Courting the Pagan Vote

In the dream, Katie and I are at Paganicon when Pete Buttigieg walks by.

(Actually, the entire coven is there, but apparently the rest of them are somewhere else at the time.)

We're standing by the bleachers (!) when this happens. (Remember, we're in Dream Country. In real life, there are no bleachers anywhere near the P-Con hotel.)

Katie greets Buttigieg and, remembering us, he returns the greeting. Apparently we had encountered him previously and invited him to a coven meeting. As he's tendering his regrets and explaining why he won't be able to make it (too busy with the campaign), I slip my arm around his waist and sit him down next to me on a bleacher.

(Even in the dream, I can't imagine doing this to any other presidential candidate. That he's gay too, and kind of cute, lends a certain intimacy to our interactions, there's no denying it.)

I notice as I do so that he's getting pudgy. “Too much bad campaign food,” I think.

Well, dreams are dreams, and reality is reality. But mark my words, for what I say is true.

Only two more cycles? Anthony, you're an optimist. May time prove you right.

I figure about 8 more years before we grow large enough to be courted as a group demographic.

A Reading at Samhain

Och, now. So you've been busy this year, sir. Running for President, and all. And elections nearly upon us.

Well, let's see what the cards have to say.

Oh. Oh dear. Well, no, sir, I'm afraid not. Though it's grieved I am to have to tell you so.

No, no, no one else implicated here, sir: whatever's coming, it's all of your own doing. Coming back on your own head, it is, plain and simple. Nothing to do with anyone else, blame who you may.

Oh, my. Financial losses I see here too, sir: major ones. All a direct result of this year's doings, if I may say so. Irreversible, they are. That's money lost you'll never see again, oh no.

Well, sir, it doesn't look good. In short, sir, you've damaged your brand, and there'll be no coming back. At the top of the Wheel you were, but it's all down, down, down from here, and I don't see another coming-up for you, ever, at all, at all.

And the cards don't lie, now, sir. Indeed they don't.

Here, here, now, we'll not be having with that kind of talk around here. I'll say goodbye to you, sir. You'll leave now, you will.

Goodbye. Goodbye.

It's Not About Them, It's About Us

A few shots of whiskey in, an old friend I hadn’t seen in awhile and I decided to do a tarot reading on the upcoming US presidential election.  We are both a bit obsessed, checking FiveThirtyEight (the website that focuses on opinion poll analysis) regularly (and I confess in my case sometimes multiple times a day).  She has also been doing multiple divinations using I Ching and Runes.  As is often the case with divination she never got conclusive answers much to her consternation.
