Forget the Tupperware party and have a gem-magic party with your girlfriends instead. Make popcorn, eat pizza, drink champagne, and, most importantly, make magic together. What could be more fun? All you have to do is pick a night and assign everyone two ingredients to bring—one snack and one batch of crystal beads. You provide the thread, tools, glue, and good vibes.
Think about beginning the night by making brooches. A brooch worn over the heart is a symbol of loyalty and love among friends. You’ll need to get some flat-circle brooch pins at a craft store. Give each person at the party a brooch and ask her to choose a partner. Using glue, each gal will encrust the front of her brooch with as many crystals as possible in a color and an array that best represents the personality of her partner. Then, the partners exchange brooches. Your gaggle of girlfriends will be forever bonded by their love brooches, not to mention the glue!
The pendulum is a tool for gleaning information from your inner self. Some of the best pendulums are the ones you can make yourself by tying a piece of string or rawhide to a crystal. You should tie it so that the crystal points down. Each time you use it, ask the pendulum, “Show me yes or show me no.” The crystal pendulum will swing up and down, giving you answers. I recommend keeping a journal of your work with the pendulum. Not only will this give you a record of yes-and-no responses, but it will also help you track their effectiveness, and you will be able to see patterns of information emerging from your unconscious and the universe. I can’t recommend this highly enough. You will learn so much about yourself and your place in the world from this. I know people who absolutely depend on their pendulums for help with shopping and all manner of decision making.
Most New Age shops now sell lovely chunks of amethyst and quartz attached to delicate chains. Do try this easiest of all forms of divination. It is fun and full of surprises!
This is more of a divination technique to find new love, rather than a spell. A big part of meeting someone new is knowing how and when such a meeting may take place. So try a little divination. You need just two things: a length of white ribbon or string and a ring. The ring just needs to symbolize a wedding ring but doesn’t need to be truly valuable.
Tie the ring to the end of the ribbon, and let it dangle from your hand. You need to be very still for this, so you should probably rest your elbow on the table for a bit of stability.
If you have any doubts about a friend’s intentions or actions, try using a pendulum to help you determine the truth. I take my pendulum, a lovely striated quartz, everywhere I go to answer those tough yes-no questions that crop up daily. Pendulums are available with many different stones and crystals, but you can make one from any number of herbs, as well.
Take a twelve-inch length of string and choose one of the following herbs. Experiment to see which one works best for you:
Many witches carry a pendulum with them at all times to help make the right decisions. I sometimes see pendulums twirling over herbs and produce at the farmers market or hovering over restaurant menus. They have recently become available at most metaphysical stores, but a lovingly handmade pendulum is imbued with more personal energy. An easy DIY way to make your own pendulum is to take a strong string or length of leather and tie a ring, gemstone, or crystal to the end. By the light of the new moon, take a bundle of sage, light one end and pass the smoke over your pendulum, “smudging” and purifying your space.
Wear the pendulum around your neck for seven days. Each night, light black candles on your altar to absorb negative energy and, holding the pendulum still, chant:
Guide me to the path of truth, O goddess hear my song. This pendulum I charge with my energy, to judge right from wrong.
So mote it be.
On the seventh day, you can begin using your new tool. Any time you need advice before making a decision, dangle the pendulum and observe its movement—swaying from front to back means yes, left to right means no.
We all know many people find romance on dating websites and apps. Use your witchy tools of a pendulumand a whispered spell for swift and accurate swiping! If you don’t already have a pendulum they are easily gotten at any metaphysical shop or mind, body spirit bookstore. You can also make your own with a footling strip of string or leather cord with a small rose quartz with a pointy end. Knot the quartz onto your cord and test it to show you which is “yes” and which is “no.” That is easily done by putting your elbow on a table and holding the pendant in your raised hand, Still the pendant and hold it over the photo on the app for people of interest to you. and then ask it to indicate yes and no. When you feel sure, swipe away! When you have found a person of interest, craft your note and speak this spell.
