PantheaConvergence prt3: The Black Rose Suite

b2ap3_thumbnail_16829_1072064912809114_8477723549049734674_n.jpg

This year we decided to do something different and get a suite. We planned for months and worked our butts off to make it a fun and exciting atmosphere. The suite was decked out with halloween and witch inspired decor with altars, information, and ribbons everywhere! The entire weekend there was something going on in the room and we even had the honor of hosting two outside groups who each held events in the room.

Great, thanks! Did you use a ritual script or did was it more improvisational?

PantheaCon - My wonderful moments

I went to PantheaCon this past weekend. PantheaCon is a real, honest to goodness gathering of all sorts of folks that identify in some way as Pagan. It's made up of vendors and presenters and ritualists and authors and seekers and party people and dabblers and long, long time practitioners.

There were many moments throughout the conference that just made me proud of being a Pagan and more than a few moments where I was in complete awe of our community at large. As I was writing this piece, I noticed that I tend not to write about other people in the Pagan community, but rather about my experiences as a Pagan. So this is a bit of a departure for me.

Pre-PantheaCon Rituals - or -Where is my cool hat?

You should see my bedroom right now. It looks as if all of the magical clothing from every magical clothing store decided to leave the comfort of their lovely racks and shelves and start a squatter's collective in the middle of my bed. Apparently they also called the "make-up" fairies and the "don't forget all of these accessories" gnomes and said, "hey you should all come over here and see what Gwion is trying to stuff in his suitcase. It's a laugh riot!"

In all seriousness, I love going to PantheaCon and there's a certain amount of ritual that goes into preparing for this one of a kind, four day event.

On Veils, from PantheaCon

Picking up where I left off my previous blog about PantheaCon –

On Saturday evening I went to a workshop called “Taking Up the Veil,” with Xochiquetzal Duti Odinsdaughter.[1]  The description in the program intrigued me:

Thanks for your comments, Constance. It's a complicated issue. As you said, the choice must always be that of the wearer.

PantheaCon upon Reflection

Thursday Night thru Saturday Afternoon

To avoid the hassle of driving busy Bay Area freeways during the day, and because I’m not an early riser, I drove down to San Jose late Thursday evening.  I anticipated that this would allow me a few more leisurely visits with other early arrivers, especially those from afar, before the Con got nuts.  I was right.
