Libra New Moon: Saying Goodbye to Social Media

It's Autumn and things are slowing down in Nature as am I. I let go of social media this month after a visit home to Ontario, Canada where I let the deep lake water wash over me as I floated, floated, floated. Watched the beavers and the otter play, and the blue heron and loon swim and fly and utter their gorgeous (the loon) and weird (heron) songs.

During my time away I realized that whenever I shared anything on my phone or on the internet it felt like WORK, a huge amount of work. Posting/sharing/chatting/responding to everything and everyone on Facebook Instagram, texts, emails. So I shut it all down. I stopped looking at it (except when sales came thru, of course). I honestly felt like a hollow shell; I had nothing left to give.

So now, I give you this, just this. That's all. It will be enough. I feel myself going back in time to BEFORE; before the internet was on my phone and the incessant, undending chatter took precedence. I have myself back.

I want our time together to be magic, a respite. So mote it be.

In that spirit I share with you my latest painting from the Faerieality Series. May she delight you in sparkly, unseen, magickal, trixsy ways. That is all. Just enjoy.

Sparkly Blessings!

About Birch Fairy

"Birch Fairy", 6x6 inches, acrylic gouache and collage on paper mounted to board.

"Like many fairies, the birch fairy can open the portals to the subtle realms. The birch is associated with cleansing and freshness, and the goddess Arianrhod is invoked using birch, to attract fertility and aid creativity." (The Fairy Bible by Teresa Moorey)

Walking the Tightrope: Finding Balance, Seeking Harmony

October 8.2018  - New Moon in Libra

It is truly beautiful!
There is a certain aura
Of refinement and grace.

The craftsmanship is expertise
And one can tell that
Great skill and thought
Went into its creation.

You know, they say
That the finest of gold
Was used and each pan
Was polished and leveled

Its inner workings were
Calibrated to the most
Exact measure.

As I think on it and if, I pause
Too long on either extreme
Of matters the agility of my
Mind usually steps in to set
The course straight and bring
The tangential stream back
To center point.

Although, if I linger too long
In the comfort of my mental
Landscape that brings its own
Downpour of disequilibrium.

Yes, it is beautiful this state
Of affairs and the rarest and
Most refined of thought
Is poised and balanced
In its beauteous state of chaos

My justifiable grace is asway
On the luminescent and
Polished scales of mind’s
Elegantly created obelisk.

Act One: The Beauty of a New Darkness

An Astrological Tale

…… (Luna) stepped onto the center mark of the stage, picked up the scales and waited in the darkness as a hush fell over the theater. Luna heard the familiar first notes of the prelude coming from the pit played masterfully by the Planetary Orchestra, and carried on the otherworldly sounds, she slid easily into her role as the beauty of the harmonies flowed through her. The curtain opened and the stage was pitch black, save for the starlit diamonds on Luna’s gown……

New Moon in Libra: The Goddess of Love Herself

The New Moon this month occurs in the sign of Libra (1° 08') on Tuesday September 23rd, at 11:14 pm (PDT).  Libra is the archetype of the Goddess of Love Herself, and is associated with the planet/goddess Venus.  Libra is a Cardinal Air sign, meaning it is a sign that begins a season; a gateway into the journey of a new chapter that resonates with the objective, intellectual element of Air.  Libra season begins with the Autumn Equinox, or Mabon, as it is called in some Wiccan communities.

Libra is concerned with seeking balance, and of relationships of all kinds; from interpersonal relationships, to the relationships between line and color, and form and function.  Many Libras have a decidedly artistic bent, and an eye for proportion and detail.  This eye for relationship between the sum of many parts can be found in the writer, artist, designer, therapist, or lover.  This sensibility and need for equilibrium also shows up in the peacemaker, the negotiator, and the lawyer or judge.  Many Astrology sources will talk about Libra’s famous vanity, or superficiality, and go on about how this is the guy or gal who always smells good, or won’t leave the house unless impeccably dressed.  Personally, I think this falls under the category of pop Astrology, and it doesn’t explain why some Libras might appear obsessed with appearances.  It all stems from that need to balance, to attain a certain harmony or symmetry.  Notice that Libra is trying to find balance, or the right combination of things.  That doesn’t mean he or she always achieves it. It is the pursuit of the ideal, and that can be a very abstract concept to wrap one’s head around.
