Sensuality Spell: Full Moon Goddess Invocation

At the next full moon, make a vow, alone or with your partner, to bring forth all erotic powers. Begin with a blissful bath in oil-scented water; this essential oil must be the one that makes you feel sexiest. For me, it is an equal mix of vanilla and amber, which I call “Vamber;” it has never failed me. When I wear this unguent, I feel as if a cloud of sensuality surrounds me.

Sit in a darkened room, encircled by flickering jasmine, musk, or “vamber” candles. Raise a cup of jasmine tea or a glass of wine from a vintage that represents a lucky year for you, and speak this spell aloud:

Gather to you
what is most precious.
Open your hands
and let the rest go.
A threshold time approaches,
but there is no deadline truly here.
There is only a cycle
of unfurling,
a cycle of descent and renewal,
of deepening and discovering,
of contemplation and transformation.
May you settle inward.
May you deepen into trust.
May you pause often
and may you laugh often.
May you reach out in connection
and may you sink into solitude.
May you savor and celebrate
the rich and warm texture
of your own life.
May you come back home to center.
May you trust yourself to choose
with wisdom and with love.

As we approach a new year, I've been evaluating and considering what I want to carry with me across the threshold into the new year. This can be both challenging and liberating! I've decided to close my classrooms in 2024 and also to retire my podcast. And, I've decided
to "retire" from making posts on this blog. I've enjoyed my time writing here, contributing 245 posts since I started in 2013.

Here is where you can find me:

If the site becomes more active again, I might return, but for now, this is Happy New Year and goodbye! Thank you for your time and presence over the last ten years.

The things I need to flourish are simple:
sunshine and the moon,
raindrops and wind,
long walks through woods
and along shorelines,
time alone every day
with a prayer book,
my pen and the sacred,
laughter in the company of others,
time to do my work
without apology,
time outside every day
with my eyes open
and my phone inside,
heart-listening and soul-tending
in the center of my own life.

What do you need to flourish?

We inhabit a world
of unimaginable complexity
and here we are to see
and touch
and taste
and know it.
This is a fierce
and powerful magic.

This morning
I laid on my back on the rocks

stuck my legs straight up in the air
and then spread them open to the sky.

I brought my knees into my chest
and laid there on the stone b2ap3_thumbnail_34561828_2094922720719939_6452653518552563712_o.jpg
like a stranded beetle for a while
thinking.

I had the sensation
that I was waiting for something,
some insight or
inspiration or
magical something
to happen,
and had a vague feeling
of disappointment
in such a “normal day”
with no special lesson
or encounter.

But, then I heard a small voice
from within say:

“well, you got your spirit back,
so there’s that.”

And, I decided that was enough.

On my way back to the house,
there was a snail on a leaf.
