I received this question just after answering the last question, and immediately one of my crystal Guides (name: "Cassandra", who comes through with a heavy Spanish-sounding accent) has stepped in to answer the question. I am honored and blessed!
This week we're going to talk about Self Healed crystals. Self-Healed crystals are crystals that have been broken from the matrix and started to re-seal their broken ends with new growth. How might this happen and what is the matrix? All crystals which aren't Double Terminated start out on a cluster (the porcupine looking masses of crystals). These clusters grow along veins. When the earth moves and shifts, individual points or sometimes clumps of points break off. The broken ends of these crystals (and also the space where they came off the cluster) will often continue to grow, or "self-heal".
A Self-Healed crystal looks like it has scales or triangular layers which vary from very teeny almost imperceptible scales to large triangular layers. Self healing can be present on the bottom, sides or even tip of a point or cluster. Self-Healed points also present as crystals that were broken in half but sort of “glued” back together with new growth. I intentionally made these pictures large because the detail in some Self Healed crystals can be hard to see. I apologize if it is taking time to download.
This week we're going to discuss Golden Healer quartz crystals.
They are quartz crystals that are partially or totally covered with a transparent golden-yellow mineral. The coating ranges from iridescent yellow to rusty dark orange, from total coverage to skippy, partial coverage. This coating doesn't come off in an acid bath. Often the lightly coated Golden Healers will have rainbow iridescence on the outer layer (like rainbows you see on oil slicks, also called "natural rainbow aura"). These points emit an especially high energy.
This week we’ll be discussing E.T. crystals which falls under the category of terminations (such as Double Terminated). E.T. may stand for either Extra Terrestrial or Extra Termination, depending on who you ask. I call them both E.T. and Extra Terrestrial, but not-so-much Extra-Termination. I prefer to call them Extra Terrestrial over Extra Termination for two reasons. Number one, they have an other-worldly feel to me, and number two, they are very powerful and I think they look a lot like a rocket ship (which makes me think of E.T.'s and also power). Also, Extra Termination may accurately describe the feature, but not the energy. What do you think?
Wow. Look at this crystal. This is an example of Self Healing which occurs during the growth of the crystal. Many times the earth movement causes crystals to break during their growth. I bet it didn't expect to get all smashed up like that during its growth! However, it didn't sit down and quit, it just kept on growing. It sealed over the rough, broken edges and in that process attracted some Barnacles (smaller crystals attracted to an old soul crystal) and kept getting prettier and prettier.
The same concept can be applied to us when we find ourselves broken or injured in some way. We heal up our wounds and keep on keepin' on.
Another question has come up that I thought I would address as a blog post. Curt asks:
"I find my crystal work is more effective in assisting others than it is when I assist myself. What do you advise?"
That's a really great question, and one I have often asked myself over the years. Why is it that most healing modalities seem more effective when we apply them to others than when we work on ourselves?
When we work on ourselves, many different factors come into play:
