Magic and Paradigm Shifts

If this were a cinematic moment, there would be a scene where the wind blows the weathervane round to signify a huge change in direction.  Do you feel it, too? Ever since February (well, for me Imbolc, but for some friends a bit later on) it feels as if the huge 'stuckness' of 2018 was unclogged.Whoosh! And that whoosh! is the wind shifting the weathervane round.

These times of paradigm shifts are very liminal. Partly, we are responding to the celestial energies of Uranus and other planets stationing on the critical degrees of 29 and 0.  Endings and beginnings.  We have had a very potent New Moon in Picses to inspire visions and dream new realities. But somehow, I sense there is more than just an astrological explanation. There is such a powerful pulse of interconnectedness that I am sensing in the air, even as sleet and hail, thunder and lightening visit the landscape I inhabit along with tulips and hellebores, badgers and birds of numeous species. In a time where there is much to worry a body and soul, I feel as if we have been through a great clearing of energy. Now we have more power to perform acts of kindness, love and wisdom in the world. We are the channels.  And there is more space for us to fill.

So some people may feel a bit on edge right now. That's not completely surprising. We are on the brink of a new way of being.  Liminal spaces are edgy places - borders, shorelines, fences, bridges. Did you know that there is a real phobia for fear of bridges? It's called Gephyrophobia.  Bridges are such great examples of being between worlds - you are suspended over the depths of water or the subconscious emotion. For those who experience all change with accompanying anxiety, fear not!

This is not about feeling between two worlds, but being able to comfortably inhabit both! Often what people fear  most is that if they are more than one thing - identity label, for instance - that they are somehow diminished. That it is somehow wrong to be both wise and young or old and naughty, say. We can hold conflicting emotions - anger and joy - and they need not split us down our centre. If we can hold both worlds we absolutely hold the centre. This shift is not either/or - notice that slash down the middle! It is about being both and being able to negotiate and reconcile both.

I keep hearing of people being given -or seeking - symbols and images about navigating or finding direction - especially maps, compasses and labyrinths. Often they may speak of feeling lost. Now is the time when we will find ourselves or our true north.

But I also sense - in an almost prophetic way - that there is much magic for good afoot. This is not to say that many individuals will not feel challenged. Or afraid. Some people are more wary than others of bridges.

What feels truly magical to me often happens when I am not in control. Spell craft works best when we are simply in alignment with the way the wind is blowing. We sense a power that we have plugged into that is not ours. It is not personal, but cosmic and universal.  And this is why I feel really excited, because this shift feels like a lot of people are going to plug into the grid. There is the potential for an enormous upsurge in creativity that comes from folk who are able to walk that shady border territory of being both, with a foot in both ordinary and extraordinary reality.

This is a time where we can access the channel for this paradigm shift in consciousness. The Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine are dialoguing with one another. A sacred reckoning and a reconciliation is in the process of unfolding. And enfolding us all.

A maze is for getting lost in. 2018 felt a bit maze like, bumping into cul de sacs and walking down blind alleys. Nothing seemed to resolved. It was more of the same old same old.  We have now shifted into labyrinth time. This is where we find ourselves.  This is where we reconcile with our own internal opposition. That is always good news.
