A Faerie Haven: Living in Myth, Being Magic
For some people, magic isn't something they do, it is what they are. This blog focuses less on theory and more on lyrical mysticism, applied spellcrafting, experiential awareness of Divinity, and related topics. A haven for you who long to become your myth and live your poem. Faerie tales do come true.
Divination Using Marbles
Divination using toys? No, I haven’t lost my marbles. I collect them instead. I do psychic readings with everything in my environment. All of life is sacred. Fun is sacred.
I collect marbles. A few weeks ago, I thought it’d be fun to do divination with them. Since I view everything is my environment as an oracle, it was only a matter time before the idea of using marbles for oracle work came to me. ... Hm, honestly, I’ve probably used them that way before this, and not even remembered it; that’s how much a part of my life using everything as oracles is. ... In any case, this blog is about a psychic reading I did a few weeks ago using marbles.
Over the years, the container for my marbles has become the home of a few other items, sometimes intentionally, sometimes not. I added a couple of fine art glass globes. A piece of malachite broken in two made its way in, as did a few old beads from one of my mom’s necklaces. Maybe I added the beads intentionally, since they’re blue, and I find blue marbles scrumptious. There’s also a glass crystal bead that’s probably from a friend who has now passed on, and dice with the word God on every side.
Whatever makes it into that container automatically seems part of the marble collection, usually.
To keep items from breaking when I did the reading, I gently spread the collection out on a soft surface, letting items randomly but gently slide wherever they wanted. The photograph shows the marbles’ resulting positions.
Below is the reading I believe the Gods gave me. That belief is based on the marbles’ random positions, the manner in which the collection wove with the environment—e.g., the way sunlight glinted off a given bead—my intuitive sense of it all, and logical analysis.
The reading:
* It’s easy for you to ignore all the beauty around you and go down the rabbit hole. However, you’re very good overall at celebrating life.
* You need to go the next step of releasing unhealthy attachments to the result of your efforts. This will give the universe more room than ever to maneuver and thus be more able than ever to fulfill your desires and carry you happily toward them. You are loved loved loved.
* Life is fun fun fun. Continue being fun so your witchcraft students experience sacred joy during classes with you.
* Remember that your unusual nature—including your always doing 100 projects that seem entirely unrelated—is part of a bigger plan, and all your projects do work together, quite well!
* When doubting yourself, don’t try to simply stop doing it; that alone may not work. Instead, try to replace doubt with fun: do a fun activity or, if you need to do a serious activity right then, try to adopt a merry mindset during it. If an unpleasant task requires your attention at that moment, find any little merriment you can in it.
* You are our beloved child, beloved beloved beloved. Keep on!
So that’s the reading the marbles gave me.
