I just want good food and to live a Magickal life! Is that so much to ask?   Through persistence, I found the honest answer… I can have both! I realize that I could forge my own path using the skills and knowledge I gained, and the simplest of techniques.   I love food, from the cultivation to cooking, and of course eating. I have spent more than 35 years in the kitchen, enjoying every minute. Okay… well, enjoying almost every minute of it.   In addition, I have disbursed nearly as many years studying Wicca, Witchcraft, and Paganism. Combining these two passions has created a Magickal path where I combine food and spirituality. To my delight they play brilliantly together.   My love of whole healthy foods, and unique recipes has also lead me to help run a local teen cooking program, where I teach kids valuable life skills in the kitchen. In addition, I teach a variety of cooking classes for adults and covens. These subjects range from making the time spent in the kitchen more enjoyable, to cooking together as a group, and recipe-spell creation.   It only made sense that I would begin writing and sharing my experience. From this, The Magick Kitchen was born. My journey with you is about developing a spiritual experience with food, far beyond the dull habit of consumption. We have a marvelous opportunity here to take a mundane task and make it Magickal!   The Magick Kitchen is about connecting to Divinity through food and the ritual of preparing and sharing food. It is about developing a sacred balance between nourishment, ritual, and spirit. Food has the power to heal, sooth, and bring us together as friends, families, and community.   I am so glad you joined me! Sharing knowledge, experience, and personal perspective with you is an honor. Thank you!

I assume you want to be happy! I assume you want to live the best life you can possibly live. Then, why do you feel guilty about using Magick to manifest this?

It’s okay, you are not alone. Using Magick to gain wealth, prosperity, abundance, and happiness in one’s life is an area where many new and experienced Magicians struggle to justify. How dare you ask the universe for happiness and the means to live a good life!

STOP! Stop, making yourself feel guilty for using Magick to your advantage.

Advice for Beginners on Wiccan, Pagan & Witchcraft Paths

Advice for Beginners on Wiccan, Pagan & Witchcraft Paths

My years of experience will do no good for anyone if I do not share it with you. I hope my words of wisdom and advice help you avoid many of the mistakes I made.

Spirituality is a process. Witchcraft is a journey, not a destination. There are many factors to consider when choosing a spiritual path. Spirituality is about devotion and practice. One cannot simply associate one’s self with a path, and call it their own. You must practice it. You must become a part of it. You must be willing and able to live that path.

The path of Wicca, Witchcraft, and Paganism is not about shock value. It is not about making your oppressive relatives angry, or proving yourself different in main stream society. Yes, by nature we tend to go against the grain, but not always so harshly. The path is about devotion. It is about finding a spiritual balance and focus that makes you a better person. It is about finding your place in the world that also helps make the world a better place.

Salt Magick

Salt Magick

Using salt in Magickal recipes

Salt is an essential component. Not only is it essential for cooking it is also a key component in many Magickal practices. Today we will take a look at why salt is so important to food and Magick. We will look at different types of salt, salt blends, how to make Black Salt. I also plan to discuss when to add salt to your recipes/foods, and methods of using salt in Magick.

Magickal Properties of Salt

Considered one of the most sacred minerals on earth. Salt represents: Prosperity & Protection. Because it was once prized as currency and used to pay salaries; Salt is associates with financial abundance, especially when mixed with green vegetables and ingredients related to prosperity and wealth. Use salt for cleansing energies both physical and not. One of the most well-known used for salt is in creating protective Magickal barriers also known as a Circle of Salt.

Dealing with Obnoxious Zealots

Dealing with Obnoxious Zealots

Practical ways to deal with and diffuse religious attacks.

As Pagans, Witches, and Wiccans we are often pressured by people of other “faiths” regarding our beliefs. We are chastised, discredited, and even demonized simply because we practice a different spirituality/religion.

I have experienced plenty of these encounters, originating from complete strangers to co-workers. I have a couple of occasions I will share. I will also share with you ways you can counter and all together avoid these taunting events.

BUT First… I would like to say something to those out there who feel they are justified in badgering someone over their individual beliefs.

5 Awesome Beltane Celebration Ideas for Solitaries

5 Awesome Beltane Celebration Ideas for Solitaries

Beltane is a time for fun, mythology, food, and happy indulgence. It is great to spend the day in the sun with those you admire. Group outings and coven experiences are wonderful this time of year.

BUT….

Groups and covens are not the only ones allowed to have all the fun. I have been a solitary for MANY years and I have yet to miss a Beltane celebration. Why should I? There are so many fun and inexpensive things to do. With or without a coven or group, you can have a blast.

The best part of going at it alone is, you don’t have to clear or coordinate your plans with anyone! Why? You call the shots!  There are no misunderstandings about when and where to meet. You don’t have to hear anyone complain about this that, and any other issue than may pop up. The only winer in the group is you, so if you can tolerate yourself you’re in business. *chuckle*

Magickal Edible Flowers, Part 1

Beautifully delicious ingredients are a unique culinary treat. Edible flowers may seem very odd to some, and perhaps this is why they become over looked.

Now that spring is here, many of us have plans for planting vegetable and herb gardens. If you are like me planting and maintaining a garden is part of your Magickal and spiritual practice. This year my household is going through a huge transition. We are moving and need to rebuild our garden in our new home. There are raised bed to construct, soil to move, and till… YEP! THE WORKS.

This gave me the idea to expand our garden from our traditional herb, vegetable, and fruit selections. This year, I am planning an edible flower garden to accompany our usual line up. As I mentioned, gardening and growing my own food is very much a part of my spiritual practice. Gardening reminds me that each seed planted must be tended. Once that seed grows and matures, we are rewarded with nourishment. Think of it as a metaphor for any undertaking along our spiritual journey. You must put in the work to reap the benefit.
