It's a Yule Tree, Sabrina Spellman

Sabrina: Oh Ambrose, Aunt Hilda: what a beautiful Christmas tree!

Aunt Zelda: I wish you wouldn't call it, that, Sabrina. It's a Yule tree.

Well, I can die happy now: I've just seen television's first Winter Solstice holiday special.

Courtesy—of course—of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

And believe me, this isn't your mother's Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.

Come on, admit it: Sabrina's lots of fun. It's way campy and (unlike those silly Wiccans who want to protest how “inaccurate” it is) doesn't take itself too seriously. In fact, it doesn't take itself seriously at all.

I felt that AHS: Coven was a convoluted mess of limp storylines and uninteresting characters that couldn’t seem to decide if it wanted to be a gritty thriller or a witchy cross between Frankenstein and Mean Girls. Freak Show had promise, but I was worried about it as the fall season started.

Guilty Pleasures of a Devout Hellenist

Oh, Kevin Sorbo, you hot Norwegian-blooded Minnesotan human pec monster, you gave me much fap fodder during my teens.

Which reminds me: The series, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess did mythology wrong, so very wrong. They did ancient Greece even more wrong. They gave a more unflattering image of the gods than even Homer, but you know what else? They're something I genuinely enjoy watching.
