...Here is a simple spell to welcome back the sun and celebrate the spring equinox. You can light a yellow candle, and simply say (or chant) the spell. Or you can do a little extra magic and etch the candle with runes or symbols for the season, and use focus on the things you want to achieve in the season ahead.
Over at the Minoan language blog they've been posting non-traditional, bilingual haiku lately. Thought I might as well get in on the act.
And yes, I actually did see this the other day.
Three crows eating pizza

Winter in the city.
I answered the phone. It was my brother-in-law. He opened the conversation with "Your country has gone mad." Which I know. He's absolutely right. And he has seen some crazy in his day in Northern Ireland during the thirty years of The Troubles. So how to not add to the sum total of crazy these days? I am not listing these things as a marker of what busy looks like for me, but hopefully as a barometer of why I (we) all need some time to look within.
What I offer below is the result of my yearnings to retreat and what would inhabit this space outside of time, if it manifested as a true haven. You see, another large component of my retreat is the hunger for knowledge that can become wisdom. If you are familiar with the scene in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast where Belle is gifted the library by the beast- that is my haven. Books and time and reading and languishing in what I consume; sated and exhausted by my efforts.....
