The story of the karmadillo could be a parable, except that it's true. It perfectly illustrates the concepts of wyrd and orlog.

Wyrd is basically the law of cause and effect. Orlog is the layers of past action that affect current action. Past actions that affected this situation include someone in the man's society inventing a firearm, the firearm company selling firearms, the man buying one-- which implies all the past actions from the man's ancestors moving to America to the man getting a job which paid him enough to buy the home where this happened and have enough money left to buy a gun and ammunition for it-- and on the other side of the equation, all the many actions of nature that resulted in the evolution of an animal with a bulletproof armor hide.

Donald Trump's chart is quite typical of the man and his behavior. To begin with, he has Leo Rising. In my experience this means that he is not interested in ever being told what to do. I never knew a Leo rising who was. One acquaintance with that configuration used to occasionally give me a ride. When she did not know the directions, I would need to tell her via suggestion only where to turn. If any directions were put as a direct statement she would sail right by instead of turning where I said.

In addition Trump has Mars in fiery Leo in the 12th house just three degrees from his Leo ascendant. His impulsiveness is well known. This again is unsurprising because not only is he impulsive but he is also forceful. However one nickname for the 12th house is the house of self undoing. Another is the house of karma, the house of "what goes around comes around." As Mars represents the POTUS's actions, so it also means that whatever he does, good or bad will sooner or later return to him.

Equal and Opposite Reaction

Newton's third law says something to the affect of for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.  This has been bouncing around in my head for weeks now as I'm trying to figure out how this applies to karma or the good vs evil beliefs.

Here are the questions I keep asking which I'm not sure I have any answers for or that anyone would have answers for.

How Do You Say "Karma" in Witch?

Belief in reincarnation came into the modern Craft—probably via Theosophy—with Gerald Gardner.

Interestingly, though, there does seem to have been a word for 'karma' in old Witch vocabulary.

Karma in Sanskrit means simply 'act, deed, work,' from the verb karoti, 'he makes,' 'he does,' but has come to mean by extension the sum total of actions throughout one's various lives, and the effect of these deeds on one's present and future lives.

Similar in meaning is the Old Norse word ørlög, usually translated 'fate' or 'destiny.' Ørlög is the sum total of actions and events: everything that has gone on before which brings to bear on events of the present. To the Northrons of old, as in contemporary heathen thought, in addition to ørlög writ large, individuals, families, and nations all had their own ørlögs.

This seems an eminently pragmatic way in which to view the world. What is done is done, shapes everything that comes after it, and cannot be changed. But likewise, every new deed that is done lays down ørlög of its own.

Recurring Wounds and the Soul's Legacy

The last few weeks have been particularly difficult for a number of reasons. I generally write on broader topics, and this is no exception, but there is a crucial personal thread in this tapestry.

This week I stumbled on two posts I will share that resonated with me. One has to do specifically with the energies of the full moon we just experienced, and the other focuses on the idea of karmic contracts:
