Hasn't 2018 been the oddest year energetically? It has felt both overfull and stop and start. Old routines and ventures appear to be coming to the end. Or at least need to go fallow for a year. Meanwhile, what is beginning is also a bit lame and halt. Nothing is quite what it seems to be. Or at least that is what this crone divines.
We have just passed the night of the dark moon at the darkest time of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. In our rural fastness, without street lighting, night is very tarry at this time of year. And so, too, at this dark moon did my knees and bones complain and beg to rest. 2018 has been exhausting, personally and collectively.
Some mark Samhain over the 31st October to 2nd November period. Others like to wait for the cross-quarter day, like my Druid friend John; this is a variable date but is astrologically Sun at 15 degrees Scorpio. Personally, I like to celebrate the dark moon in Scorpio. Partly, it is because I was Dark Moon in Scorpio moon born. So I revel in my natal vibe. Now, in my crone years, I especially value the special magic of the dark of the moon at the darkest time of year. On November 18th, we have a dark moon in Scorpio, which I call the Cailleach moon.
Dreams can take you to heaven and drag you through all the levels of hell. They can help you solve problems and relieve stress. In dreams, you can be anyone and do anything regardless of any limitations you have in the physical world. You can meet anyone or anything. In dreams our guides come to us to assist with life’s difficulties.
As a child, I’d often have nightmares, even though I shared a room with two sisters. At some point a black panther began appearing in my nightmares. You would think this fierce hunter would frighten a child even more but I always drew comfort from the black panther. Each time she appeared in my dreams, I knew I could change the dream to be something better than the nightmare. I knew whatever was scaring me I had a choice to let it scare me or I could overcome it.
Sometimes it is easier to just sit back and not try to take that step forward. Maybe dealing with the negativity that has become so common in my life is easier than stepping into the unknown. But by dealing with this negativity I have noticed that over the pasts two years my health has declined, my motivation has declined, as well, my positive attitude and outlook has declined.
