Today we're going to talk about Fairy Frost, which falls into the category of internal structures. Crystals with Fairy Frost are sometimes called "Devic", because they can connect us to Nature Spirits or Deva.

Initially the term Fairy Frost might make you think of something on the outer surface of a crystal (frost on the pumpkin, frost in the ground), however it isn't. Fairy Frost occurs only inside the crystal. Crystals with Fairy Frost have fractures and inclusions of air within them. The trapped air is wispy, white and fairy-looking. Some are more fairy-like than others. Many crystals have Fairy Frost, in fact more of them have it than don't have it. A crystal without any Fairy Frost at all is called optically clear or water clear with no fractures or inclusions. Here are some pictures of Fairy Frost:

This week we’ll be discussing E.T. crystals which falls under the category of terminations (such as Double Terminated). E.T. may stand for either Extra Terrestrial or Extra Termination, depending on who you ask. I call them both E.T. and Extra Terrestrial, but not-so-much Extra-Termination. I prefer to call them Extra Terrestrial over Extra Termination for two reasons. Number one, they have an other-worldly feel to me, and number two, they are very powerful and I think they look a lot like a rocket ship (which makes me think of E.T.'s and also power). Also, Extra Termination may accurately describe the feature, but not the energy. What do you think?

This week we’ll be discussing Empathic crystals which actually is more about what has happened to a crystal's overall shape rather than what kind of shape in which it has grown. They may be any configuration at all.

Empathic crystals are crystals which are chipped or damaged in some way. Usually they are damaged in the mining process. However sometimes, even though they may survive the mining process without injury, they get dropped (for example in our homes) and subsequently are chipped, dinged or damaged.

This week we’ll be discussing Elestial crystals which is a crystal type that falls into the category of crystals' overall shape, such as Curved. This means we aren't counting edges of faces, looking at surface features or otherwise looking at PARTS of a crystal, but we are looking at the overall shape of the crystal.

Elestial crystals are described as crystals which "have natural terminations over the body and face of an etched and/or layered crystal". So, what does that mean? Simply, that they really aren't in the shape of a traditional point. They are layered all over with self-healed looking surfaces.

This week we’ll be discussing Eight-Sided face or Grounding crystals.  Eight-Sided face is a crystal shape that falls into the category of crystals of which you must count the edges of the main face, as we discussed with Channeling crystals. As a reminder, we need to discuss faces (also called facets) and edges of faces.

This week we’ll be discussing Drusy. Drusy is a crystal shape that falls into the category of crystals on crystals. Very similar to Barnacles, Drusy (sometimes spelled Druzy) consists of very small points that are described as “a myriad of very closely set tiny crystals.”  

Drusy may be present on points (like the one above) or on the points of fully formed clusters or they may be simply present on a matrix, these are called Drusy Clusters. The Drusy clusters consist of tiny crystal points in their very formation, and may be encrusted sandstone, quartz or other mineral matrices. I like to call it “Sugar Drusy” because the tiny crystals making up the Drusy look like sugar crystals. Often you will see tiny quartz Drusy growing on agate and inside geodes.
