Shall I Tell You a Secret?

Darkness with The Devil Card ...

Remind you of anything?

The “Devil” card, maybe?

Welcome to the Sabbat.

The Horned, tall on the altar.

(His antlers reach up to heaven. Between them, constellations wheel.)

Standing before him, priestess and priest.

All of them naked as gods.

Shall I tell you a secret?

They are not so much priest and priestess, as the twin Hands of the God.

Right and Left, respectively.

Which came first, you ask, card or Sabbat?

Only come.

Come, and see what is revealed.

Once again, this Summer, the Midwest Tribe of Witches will gather in immemorial Grand Sabbat,

the ecstatic adoration of the embodied Horned Lord.

Poet, scholar and storyteller Steven Posch was raised in the hardwood forests of western Pennsylvania by white-tailed deer. (That's the story, anyway.) He emigrated to Paganistan in 1979 and by sheer dint of personality has become one of Lake Country's foremost men-in-black. He is current keeper of the Minnesota Ooser.
