Words to the Wise: Sharing Life, Lessons, and Observations

Words to the Wise is a collection of stories, observations and insight drawn from my own experience both in the past and in the present, together with my perspective on what I may have learned in the process. Occasional poetry and astrological insights will be included when appropriate. I welcome comments, suggestions and thoughts of all kinds and am happy to respond.

A Ballad for a Summer Day

All on a Summer's Day

The lady she came riding by

All on a summer's day

She stopped at a brook to take a drink

All along the way.

An elf popped out of a nearby bush

All on a summer's day

The lady said how do you do

All along the way.

I do very well I do, and you?

All on a summer's day.

Indeed, my friend, why I do too,

All along the way.

My lady would you come with me?

All on a summer's day.

And where would you be taking me?

All along the way.

Why of course to see the fairy queen

All on a summer's day.

The fairest ever that anyone's seen

All along the way.

Though she's the fairest ever seen

All on a summer's day

It's with regret I must decline,

All along the way.

For I must journey on you see

All on a summer's day

Without delay, I must be gone

All along the way.

She right well knew and knew right well

All on a summer's day

That his offer she should not accept

All along the way

His face grew fierce and his eyes grew red

All on a summer's day

If you won't come, I'll make you come

All along the way.

The elf began to mutter a spell

All on a summer's day

But the lady rode away in haste

All along the way.

She better knew and better she knew

All on a summer's day

To refuse a stranger who proffered gifts

All along the way.
