Womb of Light: The Alchemy of the Goddess

Womb of Light is an exploration of the Sacred Feminine and the application of Her transformative energies. These writings will have the intent and focus of inspiring and quickening within the individual a thirst for deeper connection and opening to the magick and gnosis of the Goddess in all of Her forms. She is the Mother, the Uraeus, the Muse, the Warrior, and the Healer, to name a few. SHE is the cycle of life and death and all that is held between; and my goal is to share the wisdom of her Womb of Light that all may claim their Divine birthright.

Mother's Day! A Hallmark Moment or Celebration of Creation?

As I think on the meaning of Mother's Day I am drawn to both the commercialism and the potential for deepening my relationship with the creative feminine.

I have been richly blessed to be a mother of five children. This being birthed from a space of thought that firmly believed I did not want marriage or children; only a career as a professional ballerina. The marriage came at the age of 21 after less than a year of dating my husband and I did not question that decision, simply knowing it was right. Last year we celebrated our 40th anniversary, so I guess I was correct in following my instincts.

I still pursued a professional dancing career and 10 years into our marriage thoughts of starting family arose. In 5 years we had five children ( including a 2 for 1 with twins). Again, I trusted the process and although it was exhausting and challenging at times, being home with my brood was a gift I treasure and thank my husband (who worked tirelessly) for making it possible. Many Mother's Day celebrations have come and gone, each a special time of stillness in my family acknowledging and honoring me as "Mom".

Now, as I have deepened my practice and my path, I see this "Mother's Day" moment as a time to celebrate the creative principle of the Goddess. The womb that offers a fertile sea of potential that all can access as the source of their creative endeavors.

Creation evolves from intention and although physical creation is one that is most overt, all creation becomes the children of whoever makes use of this womb of life. Art, music, invention, planning a better way to accomplish something, awaking with joy and intention for a productive day, greeting another individual with a smile of encouragement or a reminder that they are truly worthy- all of these are creations, and all of these emanate from the each person that steps into the power of the Mother.

Mark this day on your calendar and honor those external "Mothers" if you wish, but set aside time to be still, and honor the Mother Goddess that resides in each of us. Set these seeds of intention into the seas of creation that flow within. Soon, it will be Father's Day, and the quickening principal of co-creation can be accessed. The polarities of Feminine and Masculine joined as what you wish to bring into fruition grows.

God and Goddess flow through all of our acts of creation and as we enjoy the awakening of potential, today, the Great Mother blesses us as her most cherished children....
