We’Moon Holy Days: Seasonal Blessings

In each edition of the We’Moon datebook, we feature one Holy Day writer who shares with us her unique perspectives of each of the eight holy days. This year, we have the pleasure of sharing the work of Kim Duckett Ph.D. Priestess/Ritualist/Teacher of Women's Studies for 30 years; Founder and Elder Priestess of WHISPER; Land of the Sky, "A Year and a Day Sacred Mystery School for Women," and WOTY: The Wheel of the Year as an Earth-Based Spiritual Psychology for Women training. For more information about the Wheel as a psychology book, contact kim at followheartkd@gmail.com

Winter Solstice

It’s not that the light returns—it hasn’t really ever gone anywhere. It’s that by the time of this longest night, shortest day, we’re desperate to find our way back to anything that looks like the warm shining window of home. Whew! Like shamans who have traveled too far out on a path that didn’t exactly have a beginning or middle, let alone an end, we’re suddenly faced with the stark emptiness of the Illusion of Dark.

Come on! Wemoon know magic stronger than these scary B-movies playing out everywhere in the world around us. We know something deeper than “the end is near!”

We can dance clear through walls—right through infinities of incoherence, right past looming mirages of the united corporations of fear. This is the turning, this moment. Together now let’s reach into the soul’s medicine bundle, down into the hidden womb pocket, and pull out the quantum seed, the essential speck that is both Dark and Light, both End and Beginning. It is in our hands.

It is Now!

Pssst . . . wanna know a secret?

...There is no “veil” between the worlds. We are always in multiple dimensions, and the veils, when there are any, are all in our heads! What is sacred today on Samhain is our communal decision to come together and venture beyond our imagined fail-safe points. Take your mother’s, sister’s, daughter’s, lover’s hand and walk bravely up to Death. Introduce yourself. Say hello.
What a wonderful and holy time to practice leaping over the edge of Surrender into the dark juiciness of all Unknown. Death is just a doorway between particle and wave, and every particle of our being dissolves into wave every nanosecond of our existence—and then collapses back into the same old, same old who we think we are. NOT if we pay attention! Not if we think who we are is pure consciousness and out of that mystery decide to shapeshift ourselves into beings with great wings, beings shining with internal light, beings who dance an open spiral around the limits of death and life.
