Tarot can be used for many things including futurecasting. This blog will focus on Tarot as a tool for introspection including spreads, readings, individual card explorations and investigating themes of Tarot. Magically Unsticking

Tarot readings aren't magic, but they can create magic. I've been doing a lot of three card readings via email lately. Normally I do SKYPE or phone or in person sessions but have been guided towards more email readings.

These are short readings since they are only three cards, but I'm finding that the questions asked are creating magic for my clients.

In these readings, I'm getting asked many things but one question keeps coming up.

How do I get unstuck?

To that end, I wanted to share a three card spread you can use for yourself. I will also show you how you can craft a spell using the three cards you get.

The Unsticking Spread

1. How do I get unstuck?

Rather than dwell on the fact that you are stuck, this card strikes at the core. What do you need to do to get loose?

2. What's one thing I can do to foster positive growth?

I like questions that give us homework so this one will hit what you can do to keep moving once card one has shown you how to start.

3. How can I honor my forward momentum?

This card highlights the idea that you focus on on forward movement by acknowledging and honoring it.

I did this spread for myself around this question. "How can I get unstuck around the ecourse that I've committed to creating?"

Using the Cat's Eye Tarot, here is my own reading.

The Page of Wands is my "how to get unstuck" card. He's the passionate youth who chases things that simply need chasing. He follows his heart wholeheartedly. I am being told that to get loose on this ecourse stickiness, I must get more passionate.

I need to fling my arms open and embrace the joy I have about this course. I think this tells me to just start and to stop worrying about all the details. The Page of Wands is the firestarter.

The Four of Pentacles is how to foster positive growth. Now that's a head scratcher for sure since the Four of Pentacles is often a card that indicates budget and monetary restraint. A brown tabby has one mouse in his mouth and three more beneath his feet. OH! LOL.

My first response to the visual of this card is that he's really bitten off more than he can chew. He needs to focus on what's in his mouth THEN deal with the other three. So that's my answer there. To foster positive growth, my homework is to apply myself to what I have in front of me and to stop trying to manage all the projects at once. Ouch! :D

The homework is not one I particularly like. Can I have another card, Universe? No? Okay....mumble grumble...

The Seven of Pentacles is how I can honor my forward momentum. That's the card of pausing to acknowledge work done and growth attained. By looking at what I've accomplished, I can maintain the positive growth.

So I need to say good job me for creating last year's Tarot for Writers e-course and the Fairy Tale Tarot Spreads ebook. But I can't rest on that work. I must let it carry me forward.

I cannot be this brown tabby who sits in the doorway contemplating that age-old feline question:

Do I go in?

Do I go out?

Will they hold the door open forever?

To work the spell from this reading, I would do the following. I would use a candle for the Wands (fire) card. A stone for each of the Pentacle (earth) cards would also come into play. I might write out a cantrip to chant while burning the candle. I would carry the stones with me until the project was completed.

  • Brown Candle (brown for growth)
  • Citrine (good for writing projects)
  • Jasper (good for getting the job done)

By fire and stone
I get things done
By flame and earth
This project has worth.

So my cantrips need work. Grin, it's a weakness!

What about you? Where are you stuck? Are you ready to unstick? Share your reading here if you like. I'd love to see it!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is exactly the kind of thing I needed...very much feeling 'stuck'.

I hear you! It may be a bit of Mercury Rx so it's a good time to examine and unstick. :D

This spread is perfect! I'll try it out this weekend as I'm definitely stuck in several life aspects. Also, thanks for pointing me to my next tarot deck. The Cat's Eye Tarot is beautiful, much better than most of my decks.

Dawn, I'd love to hear how the spread does for you! :D And I really adore the Cat's Eye. It's been my go-to deck this week.

Nice to hear from another person who does on-line Tarot readings. I got started doing them back in the 90s when AOL on-line was the hottest thing going. Getting the querent's focus off being stuck and onto moving forward is a good outcome for that reading. Personally, I don't relate to cats at all, but Tarot is all about what works for you. Blessings.

Rock on, my dear. It is interesting that "How can I get unstuck?" is such a regular question from clients. I see the same from my own clients. It bodes well, bc it shows a desire to be proactive. Yum! Blessed be.

I tried this one and loved the results. Thank you so much. I felt stuck on my novel, so I asked about that. I have a non-standard deck (I feel like I'm about ready to step into a huge pile of cultural appropriation, but I picked the deck because the images are ones of the southwest, which is where I live, and I relate to them much more than I do some others). Anyhow, my first card was Father Sky. From that, I took it that I need to relax and connect in to the divine instead of stressing and trying to do it all by mind force alone. As Alice Walker says, novelists are part medium and I need to trust that. My second card was the Fool. Again, I need to take the leap and stop overthinking. My brain serves me well in my job, but it's getting in the way with my writing. My last card was a reversed King of Swords. I got stuck on that one for a bit, because I wasn't sure how that would honor my forward momentum. But, my gut tells me it came up reversed because my usual m.o. in life is to be like the King of Swords. And it's telling me to stop it (which fits in with the other two cards I got). So, I think the gist is to stop approaching it from a place of logic and concern, stop mentally strategizing, and just let the words take over. Thank you again for this!
