The Ceremonial Medicine Wheel

It was while I lived in Jerusalem, Israel, in the winter of 1992, and previous to becoming a metaphysician and fire priestess, that I began a surprising although insightful journey. Having spent days curled up on my couch glued to a Mary Summer Rain book titled, Dreamwalker, a book I found in Tel Aviv, I was hooked. I could not put that book down, it held me spellbound. Having noted the name Silver Eagle, Dreamwalker, a bell went off in my psyche. When I read that one could support this Tennessee US Native Dreamwalker by purchasing his hand made earrings consisting of beads, wood and or feathers, I determined to write to him. Dreamwalkers are individuals who can use dreams to visit people, or teleport themselves and read ones energy vibration, offering help and assistance.

A letter was soon in the mail with a cheque for earrings, and with a question that had burned a deep hole in my soul since childhood. I had recognized at an early age that my former life was First Nations, Indian—as I often told my mother, also mentioning she was not my real mother and then proceeding to stomp off into the forest to look for my real mother. I bared my soul to Silver Eagle, announcing that I had been born into mistaken race and spirituality. When I finally received my earring order—a one way letter took almost a month to get to the US from Israel through United Nations channels—to my elated surprise, it also contained a touching, soulful letter from Silver Eagle. It explained how I had come into this life as a teacher to the white race, not the red race. But because he could see into and feel my heart (and my husband's, saying we were respectable people), he would teach me the medicine wheel if I wished. He said it would be inspirational for me to be practicing ‘the old ways’ and a worthy tool for me to gain insight and healing on physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and universal levels. I always thought it rather funny, here I was in Israel, the Holy Land, where I was accessing all sorts of wisdom; nonetheless immensely enjoying regularly corresponding with a Native American Dreamwalker.

My first medicine wheel was built a year later when I returned to Canada and had purchased an enchanting mountain side property on the UFO Trench of British Columbia. Silver Eagle had mentioned in one of his letters that when I smelled cigar smoke, I would know he was visiting, and although I had already experienced his presence in an all-encompassing cigar smoke scent reverie a few times in Jerusalem, I was often assisted emotionally by Silver Eagle and surrounded by cigar smoke in my medicine wheel practice that was now in the Central Mountains of BC.

After a few months of working a medicine wheel and tuning into the four directions energies, connecting with Mother Earth, the Sun, our star people and ancestors; also bringing in a connection from the center of our galaxy to the crystal core of the Earth, and honoring God/Creator and Goddess/Source, the wheel becomes powerful, strong. The energy builds. And I feel at home and connected in the wheel that so many indigenous cultures embrace for insight. As a child of the Universe, I, a white woman, having the lone spiritual practice of prayer as a child, as an adult have since gathered the most apposite practices from around the world’s spirituality and religions for my spiritual growth.

Cultural appropriation, like the shape of our houses, many times indigenous shapes and designs from all cultures that our architects utilize, create mutual benefits across the Earth home that we 7.6 billion (2018) humans share. Cultural appropriation or inappropriation sprang up and has become fashionable and mainstream; however, as I suspected and have recently been told by a Cree friend, it serves the egos of some cultures leaders and also indigenous and non-indigenous writers. Through my connection with the 13 Spirit Grandmothers of Time, who are ancient adepts from different planets and star systems, I learned that sharing our cultural gifts is ninth dimensional initiation, there being 13 initiations that humans must go through to reach enlightenment. We are attaining a letting go of ego and developing a ‘we’ consciousness as well as giving up identity when we reach the ninth level, and that includes embracing many different and unique facets and spiritual traditions of Earth’s different colored children. The cultural exchange of the medicine wheel that Silver Eagle gifted me with was a gift that I treasure.

The medicine wheel insight I gleaned as I faced North—the mental direction (Old Man Winter—Nature Spirit, the guy with the bulbous nose, huge face surrounded by long icicle beard reigning here in the Kootenays); the insight was to pay attention to the mental aspect of vulgarity. Vulgarity is characterized by ignorance of or lack of good taste, vulgar ostentation—pretentiousness, indecency, obscenity and or lewdness. To begin this new moon phase, let us make our focus on paying attention to and deleting any vulgarity that we still accept.

I end my words.

Excellent advice - " let us make our focus on paying attention to and deleting any vulgarity that we still accept." - for these days when vulgarity is found in many public places. Thanks for sharing your journey
