Scotlands Rosslyn Chapel, Mary Magdalene and Goddess Brede

On my second last day in Edinburgh, I was thinking about goddess Brede and how she had said that she had made this journey possible, also enjoying the view of the castle, sipping black tea in a charming flower-bedecked outdoor cafe. I got chatting with several young people from the U.S. They asked if I had been to the Rosslyn Chapel in the nearby small town of Roslin—just seven miles from town. I hadn’t, but their excitement about the place got me asking for directions, and the next morning my friend offered to drive me there.

Rosslyn Chapel was situated on a bluff overlooking Roslin Glen and the River Esk. A perfect location for a vortex of upflow Ki, I surmised; and as we neared the Chapel grounds on a promontory, the fresh scent of flowering trees greeted me through the open car window. The green river valley below meandered peacefully along as far as the eye could see. Steep walls of blackened stone surrounded the chapel.

Before my friend had parked the car, my head was buzzing with entities trying to contact me and speaking all at once! I soon realized that the chapel was on a major ley line, the Rose Line meridian that runs south to London. Another line crosses this ley line and runs west to Glastonbury. This area was also exuding potent Ki, universal energy.

When the car was parked I began walking towards the chapel, and was immediately surrounded by many disembodied spirits. What a party! It was difficult to listen to all the voices at once. I intuited the presence of Mary Magdalene and wondered why. Had she come here from Glastonbury? Had this been Mary Magdalene’s final resting place or destination after relocating to the UK? When I entered the chapel, I discovered that it was a Neolithic goddess site and temple and a Mithraic temple after that.

Temples of Mithraea were built underground to symbolize the Goddess’ womb, and this is where the ancient Persian ceremony of Mithras bringing down the bull was held. During those times, the bull was a powerful fertility symbol and was part of a fertility ritual. Thus, the powers of life and creativity were said to be released from inside Mother Earth to keep the Goddess energy alive. The Goddess had long been worshiped here in Scotland.

My head was spinning with excitement, and I was thrilled to participate in all the clamor and stimulation of the place, spirit wise. I also fell in love with the carvings, especially the sylvan Pagan deity ones known as Green Men, peering out from among the foliage on one pillar. The story about the special apprentices pillar in Rosslyn Chapel intrigued me. The pillar, as other authors have described, also represented the Yggdrasil, the tree of life from which Odin hung when he discovered the Runes. It reminded me of Norse mythology, but also of Pagan paths I have taken in the present and past, and of that spiral energy called Reiki that I am so familiar with. The spiral is the way Goddess energy manifests to and on Earth! Examples of Her energy can be seen in nautilus shells and other primitive life forms.

From my pocket, I pulled out the special generator crystal I had brought with me for meditation, and we stepped outside and walked about the chapel. The crystal generator is a sender and receiver of information. I was sensing a crystal cave beneath this site and knew that the ancients had found a very special location to build a place of worship. Worship in ancient times meant honoring the Goddess and honoring Her as the Source.  On the grounds of the chapel is where I felt the most Ki, although the interior was a delicious feast for the eyes.

I discovered that Mary Magdalene was a goddess and solar priestess of an ancient lineage, and I kept feeling a strong connection to her here. I intuited she had resided here. And the stone pillar’s maker—the young apprentice who had gone ahead and created the fanciful pillar while his boss was away— was also a strongly felt presence. Although his boss murdered him because of his actions, I felt that he too had been inspired and prompted by my wonderful new friend, the goddess Brede. How she loves her Scotland and its people still!

Before we left Rosslyn Chapel my friend and I had tea and blueberry scones in the coffee shop, and I continued to feel the energy of this magical place. When we finished tea, I asked to take one more walk about the chapel. What peace I felt on the grounds as I peered over the blackened stone walls to the beautiful green valley filled with Light, encircling the Chapel—the winding River Esk far down below. In late August, vines, bright orange wallflowers, and vivid lime-colored deciduous trees reeked of Ki, and I felt sacred as I walked among them. I marveled at yet another site where ancient mystical Goddess rituals were kept alive and performed. Incredible energy is felt here at the Rosslyn Chapel, with wondrous Goddess Brede.

My connection to the Source, the Goddess energy, began when I learned to channel Reiki Universal Energy. However, I didn’t connect the two at that time. It felt like the missing link for me to discover the Goddess. I had been brought up with God as our Source, but that never sat well with me. I now knew without a doubt that the Goddess was alive and the Source. She resonated within my soul.

To connect with Her, dear others, simply say, “Show me Goddess who you are. I am you and you are me! I want to meet you!”

The Goddess, in Her wisdom and compassion, allows all things, and God/Creator uses Her Source, her energy, in the creating department. I have learned that everything comes from the Goddess. It is my prayer that, as I remember and share my stories, it triggers those that do not want to remember, and those who have seemingly been forever trapped in this illusion on planet Earth.

Although I no longer feel Brede’s presence, she served me well at a time when I obviously needed her. Brede enjoyed being with me, especially as we toured Scotland, where it felt to me that time to a large extent has stood still and the culture remains pure.

I kept feeling this purity as I journeyed about Scotland, and, on the airplane home to Canada, I traveled back to a time when I was a prominent Englishwoman of the 16th Century. An English queen. It was a time I never wanted to, nor could I set foot in Scotland. The Scots at that time were devout Catholics and I was Anglican and I had decided that these northern folk were wild, uncontrollable and inexplicably inferior to us English. Of course, I feel differently now.
