PaganNewsBeagle Watery Wednesday Community News Dec 17

The Pagan News Beagle is back after a brief vacation, and today we have a wonderful set of articles on news of our many Pagan communities! Common Yuletide myths debunked; Peter Dybing's 2014 list of influential Pagans; rediscovering the artist of the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot; avoiding fake psychics; Satanists teach Pagans about PR?

Jason Mankey brings (as always!) his trademark wit to the question of common Pagan Yuletide myths. Sorry, folks, Santa did NOT get high from eating shamanic mushrooms. (And druids didn't invent Christmas trees, either.)

Peter Dybing recently posted his year-end list "10 Pagans Who Made a Difference" for 2014. As always, Peter picked a great group of people, many of whom are often overlooked.

This great article celebrates the life and work of Pamela Colman Smith, the artist behind the "Rider-Waite" tarot deck. (It should really be known as the Rider-Waite-Smith deck.)

Here's an important cautionary tale: how to tell if you are being scammed by a fake psychic. Unlike many articles of this type in the secular press, this writer brings a Pagan-centric viewpoint to bear on the question of telling genuine rootworkers from frauds.

You can't turn anywhere these days without hearing something about the Satanic Temple. The Wild Hunt takes up the question of whether these ubiquitous Satanists can teach a thing or two to Pagans about media relations.
