Weather Ward

This post was inspired by a blog post by Heron Michelle, “Hurricane Magick Index: Protection, Opportunity, Action

This is a weather ward that is to be used once a storm is very close.  It does not attempt to steer the storm away, rather it works to create a calmer microclimate around your home or business. I am a great believer in keeping weather workings as local as possible in most cases.

If you have an enhydro quartz that is the first choice, but if not then a regular quartz or a stone from your yard will do in a pinch. Enhydro quarts crystals have a bit of water, gases, or other liquids trapped within them.

Walk around your home and look for the tree that feels like it is the focal point for the landscape spirits in that locale. Find the tree that you perceive to be the monarch and focalizer. This tree may be near your home or as far as 1000 feet or so. Think very local as you will be able to exert the greatest effort in a smaller area.  Ask permission from the tree you’ve selected, and if it is granted, pick a leaf from that tree. If that isn’t possible, then a leaf from the same species or family.

Take the crystal in your hand and extend your energy into it. Take a deep breath of life force and blow it into the crystal. See it awaken like blowing on an ember to call the flame forth.  Now wrap the crystal with the leaf and tie it with a string or ribbon with nine knots.

Holding the crystal/leaf gaze upon the Monarch Tree and breath by breath let your energy reach out and touch its aura. Then make a request using your own words along these lines:

A great storm approaches

(See the storm in your mind)

I ask that the leaves of all who listen to you

(See trees, bushes, grasses, etc.)

Send forth their energy to make the air sticky and tangled

(See leaf auras with filigrees and fractals)

To gently resist and sway to slow the winds

(Imagine you see their motion)

To soften the straight line winds into soft curls

(Imagine you can see the wind do this)

Circles within circles within circles

(See a shimmering set of concentric wards around the area to be protected)

Take the crystal/leaf and place it in a bowl of water until the storm is done. I often place it on my altar. Until the storm has passed, offer it words and images of encouragement and thanks as needed.

When it is all done, offer the water and leaf outside as a libation with words of thanks. This is in the long run the most important part.
