Just, Creative & Joyous Ka
Follow your heart, your conscience and your ka – your creative power – all your life. (11) The ka of a just man is a genuine creative energy and makes people rejoice. (22)

It takes some of us a lifetime to even know how to hear our own heart, let alone follow it. The Egyptians knew, however, that the heart was the center of being, the vortex of creation.
Their concept of the ba was much more like what we now call a soul or ghost, something that can walk around outside of the body (dead or alive) and shake up the few who might see it. The ba is more about our personality in this lifetime, whereas the ka is the divine energy with which we have created a life and body.
Thus, the Egyptian liturgy cries out, “My heart! My mother!” when facing judgment. The heart as an organ of the ka can manifest our just desires, bringing joy not only to ourselves, but to those around us who detect its radiance.
A just heart, a just ka, do not appear from the void, but are the result of careful cultivation. We must set an intention of joyous creation if we wish to become joyously creative. A life habit of regular meditation, honest self-reflection, and compassion for others creates a map for the ka’s journey towards becoming an akh, a shining one.
