The Magic Rowan Tree

Posted by on in Paths Blogs

Rowan

(Sorbus acuparia)

Often found on roadsides and in gardens, woods, heaths and rocky places.   A smallish tree with grey bark, toothed leaves and white flowers in summer followed by red/orange berries in August and September.

Druids would plant rowan trees near their stone circles for protection against negative energies.

Rowan twigs were carried to ward against sorcery and evil and placed around milk churns to protect against theft.

Rowan has a very strong protective energy but also one of empowerment, it can help you connect with your inner being, the universe and the web of life all around us.

Bring rowan twigs and berries into your home to use for protection but also to bring success, love and a stronger spiritual connection.

Thread rowan berries onto red or brown thread to use as a charm for your home or to carry with you to keep you safe on your travels.

Rowan branches make good dowsing rods to help divine for metal.  Rowan also makes an excellent healing wand to use intuitively.

Solitary rowan trees are believed to be faerie trees.

Use rowan berries in incense blends for protection, divination, inspiration and to increase your psychic powers.

Tie a handful of rowan berries up in a piece of white cloth and tie with ribbon, hang this in the centre of your home (I suggest your kitchen) to keep illness at bay.

She loves to learn she loves to study and continues to do so each and every day but has learned the most from actually getting outside and doing it. She regularly gives talks and workshops at pagan events. Rachel is also founder and an Elder at the Kitchen Witch online school of witchcraft. She likes to laugh...and eat cake...
