Summertime Ukrainian Ridnoveri Holidays

Posted by on in Paths Blogs

If you have recently contacted the Slavic gods and are looking to deepen your connection to them, here is a list of holidays observed by some Ridnoveri groups and individuals. Ridnoveri is a modern Ukrainian pagan path. Other Slavic peoples have their own paths, which share many gods and characteristics but don't always have the same holidays.

Some of these holidays have a Christian history and some Ridnoveri pagans are Christopagan. I have done the math to translate these from the Julian calendar, traditionally used by Orthodox Christians in Slavic countries and also by Slavic pagans, to the Gregorian calendar generally used in English speaking countries.

Suggestions for positive things you can do for Ukraine with magic or prayer:

(Sometimes people don't believe that using magic or prayer actually works, but if you believe-- or know-- that your magic and prayer are real actions that have real results, then these suggestions are for you. Just send some good energy, because the place could use some good energy and a tangle of possibly contradictory curses and blessings from outsiders is really not what anyone ever needs in a disaster or emergency.)

1. Send love and light. Yes, really. I know people roll their eyes about that because it seems like it's not a "real" thing like sending money, and of course if you can send money do that too! But it's the most basic and positive thing you can do, and basic isn't bad! Basic means you're building a base, like the base of a pyramid, that other people can build on. If there's no base there's not going to be much of a pyramid.

2. Help the dead cross over. This is for people who have already done some psychopomp work. It's easier to do this for people you know in your local area, so if you haven't already done that don't start here. But if you already know how to help the dead cross, then that's some important work that you can do. Many people who die by violence aren't really ready when they go and may need some help. If you work with the Slavic gods you can help them do this because they are definitely doing this. Just remember, the Slavic gods are the gods of all the Slavs, Russians included. The dead who need to cross over are all the dead, Russians included. If you can't or won't help them too then this work probably isn't for you.

 3. Participate in a group ritual led by Ukrainians. I am leery of ever participating in distance rituals with people I don't personally know and I don't really recommend it, but if that's your thing, there is one in April 2022 that appears to be a ritual called for by Ukrainians. I say appears to be because I am not really sure who originated it. Please see my prior post "Ukrainian War Magic? Maybe."
