What do YOU want to know?

Welcome, dear readers and spiritual seekers.  It has been awhile since I’ve posted.  I want to ask you all:  what would you like to know about?  Discovering your past lives? Reading your astrology chart?  How to use Psycards?

Do you wish to learn about ghosts and hauntings?  Shamanism? Karma?  We could talk about UFOs, the star people, the people who live in the earth.  We could discuss the magical powers of herbs, crystals, trees, animals.  Are you curious about fairies, mythology, or spirit guides?

Do you want to develop your psychic abilities?  Learn about hypnosis? Want to become a reader of cards or other oracles?  I can help.

What knowledge are you seeking?  What areas do you wish to explore further.  I welcome any and all suggestions (within reason—be nice).  I have been studying the metaphysical, paranormal, occult—the “woo-woo” of it all for over fifty years.

Do you want answers to specific questions?  Think of me as a sort of psychic “Dear Abby.”  Do you have paranormal activity around you or in your home?  Uncertain what to do to bless or cleanse your home or sacred space? I can help you answer these kinds of questions.

So I ask all Pagan Square readers—what do you want to know more about? We are all in this journey together.  Let me help you discover what you wish to know.

Marie Martin: You will not be ignored or "blown off" here. Your spirit is clearly calling you to expand your knowledge, to free your inner power. Where do you live in SE Texas? There is Body, Mind and Soul Books in Houston--great location to visit for books and fairs and to meet and talk with like-minded folks. Unitarian Churches often have CUUPS groups--Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans--they always are eager to help new folks learn more. What specific topics seem to call you the most? I can recommend two books to start with: Psychic Self-Defense and Well-Being, published by Llewellyn, and Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain. Both are practical, hands-on instruction books on becoming aware of and working with your natural spiritual abilities.

ok thank you but why does that site have to be called an occult site.. i hate that word.. it makes what we are and what we do sound evil

The word "occult" simply means hidden. Following the persecution by Christians, many pagan practices continued in secret for exposure mean torture and death. It will take time for you to rid yourself of the "evil" stereotypes ingrained in your psyche. Occult, witch, Wicca, many terms have deliberately been cast as evil to keep folks in line with what the Church insisted everyone believe. I found reading some history of the Christian Church helped me see and overcome some of my internal prejudices.Give it time.

I have a recurring dream. A woman dressed kinda like a fairy with a flower ring in her hair. An island garden where a large group of people are gathered feasting. She tells me things I can't remember when I wake up. There is only one thing she has said that I remember. She said "I have had many names and many faces. You are my daughter be welcome here." Is this just a dream?

I don't believe it is "just" a dream. Especially as it is recurring. The woman is likely a goddess aspect reminding you that you are under her protection. There are a couple of things you can do to learn more:

    1. Keep a dream notebook near the bed and when you go to sleep, invite her to come to tell you more. It may take several days before you dream of her again. When you do, as soon as you awaken, write down every detail you remember. If you practice this over time, you will become adept at remembering and may have these dreams more often.
    2. Find a local drum journey group and try some drum journeying--you will find amazing answers within your own mind during journeying. Trust them and trust yourself.
    3. My psychic impression is this is connected to past life experiences. Hypnotic regression could also uncover more details. She is your guardian in some way.

You are blessed to have such a connection. Be grateful and remain open to the messages she brings. Blessed be!

Speaking of "hidden," there are many things that I feel have been hidden from me, which manifest themselves to me as images, so maddeningly familiar, yet I cannot place them, as they are mere glimpses. I fear something happened along the way that I've been very successful at forgetting... An awakening, twenty-five years ago, began my journey of discovery. What understanding might you draw from this?

  • Catt Foy
Catt Foy Wednesday, 06 May 2015

Forgetfulness is the by-product of being "in-body"--incarnate. These glimpses may be past live memories or early childhood ones. I find that writing such things down as they occur lead in time to greater understanding. You could meditate on them until they become clearer, or you could find a journeying group. Try reading about past lives and reincarnation. Do they feel as though they have a location in space and time. Do they draw you to a particular historical period or place? You can find some good books I can recommend here: http://cattf.tripod.com/soul_books.html.

Thank you for the response. Being empathic, a peacemaker and sensitive to the energies around me may have some affect on how I feel, but I have this deep feeling that I'm missing something, but most profound that I should be doing something else. Thank you for the recommendation.

As someone with a long history in Wicca and modern paganism, whose become disillusioned, I'd like your take on Karma.
Do you think there even is such a thing? If so, how does that work? And what if someone is horribly mistreated by life, through no fault of their own?
The oldest question asked of any religion: How do you explain human hardship, if there is any justice in the universe?

  • Catt Foy
Catt Foy Wednesday, 06 May 2015

Wow, many sages of many ages have attempted to answer this question! I believe karma is a simple spiritual manifestation of cause and effect. What you put out into the world is what you get back--eventually.

As for hardship, and seemingly unearned mistreatment, these challenges are part of our soul growth. As we suffer, we learn. We learn what we can or cannot do. We learn how to connect with others in healthier ways. I believe every hardship brings a hidden gift, if we are willing to look for it. It teaches us about ourselves, about others, or it gives us a skill, talent, or strength that we could not have gained otherwise. I bless all the people who have brought hardship into my life, for teaching me something. For teaching me compassion, if nothing else. (Not that I haven't been angry, scared, or bitter at times!) You just have to be willing to look for the hidden gift, then you will find your gratitude. And an attitude of gratitude tends to bring greater and greater good into our lives.

    Dear Ermin:

First let me say that your entire life will be a journey of discovery. We often begin to question how the world works in our teen years. I want to tell you to take your time. Read a lot. Take time alone to think and write about what you have read. I had no teachers or mentors until late in life, but I had books and I read many of them. Read about the mystical aspects of your own religion, read about other religions. Eventually you will form a personal religion, an individual path that is uniquely yours. Be patient with yourself. Before jumping into practices with which you are not familiar, read and learn everything you can about them. When first learning to deal with spiritual energy, we often make mistakes and there are beings who would have us mis-led. Trust your heart and your intuition and if something doesn't feel right, don't buy into it at the word of others. You are a Divine Child of the Universe--how you find and feel and express that is your own choice. Be careful not to use "witchcraft" of any kind to simply manipulate the physical world or other people. Use it to discover your own true self.
