Learn to use Psycards
I know that most pagans are familiar with Tarot cards. I, too, started my divination practice with a deck of Tarot (classic Rider-Waite). But many people never feel fully comfortable with Tarot, or find it difficult to learn in all its nuances. I put my Tarot cards away forever when I discovered Psycards.
Psycards is a 40-card oracle deck that can be used just like Tarot, but is much easier to learn, much easier to use, and it is designed to speak directly to your intuitive mind. Based on archetypes (think Major Arcana), its images strike a chord within our subconscious, triggering an emotional or visceral response. It is this response that enables you to create a deep connection to your own intuitive knowledge.
As the author of the book Psycards—A New Alternative to Tarot, I have been promoting Psycards since the 1980s. I also enjoy many other oracles and use them for myself (Angel Cards, Medicine Cards, Runes, I-Ching), I use Psycards exclusively in my readings for others.
Let’s take a look at just two Psycards and play with them a little. I have chosen The Liar and The Sage.
Now let’s look at them one at a time. Study the pictures. What do you see? Observe the details. Just look at the image on one card for a few minutes. What emotions do you feel in regard to the card? Does it make you happy, sad, angry, hopeful? What meaning would you guess this card might have? Write down your impressions. Then think about a time or an experience in your life when this card might have represented a situation or a person. How did that make you feel? What do you wish you could have known at that time? Is there something you wish someone would have told you?
In my book, I have written interpretations of each card as I experienced them. But the beauty of Psycards is that you don’t need someone else to tell you their meanings. At the risk of reducing my own book sales, I am telling you that anybody can learn to use and read Psycards without years of study or complicated instruction. Of course, it is my hope that anybody using Psycards will find my book insightful, helpful and inspiring.
If you are interested learning more about the Psycards on this blog, please leave a comment. I can examine the cards one at a time, or talk about layouts, or just give advice on the many ways to use Psycards and employing archetypes in your daily life. Glad to find someone else who likes and uses this deck. Here's a free app I stumbled across that'll put it on your phone: https://www.app704.com/343302428
