Did you know that a new Sun was born this year?

Astronomers estimate that, here in our Milky Way galaxy, there's a New Sun born at a frequency of about one a year.

One a year.

It's the Ninth Day of Yule as I write this, the ninth day of the thirtnight (that microcosmic year) during which the ancestors, in their wisdom, were wont to celebrate the birth of the Sun, our Sun.

Actually our Sun was born about 4.5 billion years ago, so it's a symbolic birth that we celebrate: a turning point in our annual relationship with the Star that sired us, in loving anamnesis with that moment 4.5 billion years ago when His fires began to burn.

But somewhere out there in the galaxy that we call the Milky Way, there's literally a New Sun being born as you read this: sib to our own Sun, a star that may some day have a family, and children, of its own.

As pagans and children of Earth, our special purview is our own planet and its environs.

But sometimes we look farther.

Somewhere, this Yule, a Sun is being born.

Well, happy birthday Sun.
