Magick with Muscle: From Fear to Fortitude

Mother Fate is summoning us from the dormancy of the ancient Pagan past into co-creative action. To be responsive and effective agents of change, we must move beyond being merely spiritual or mystical, but also embrace and empower being magickal. Today's magick worker must have strong inner muscles and sound techniques for the heavy lifting before us. Magick is the "art of conscious creation," so... it's time to witch up!

Orion Foxwood

Orion Foxwood

Orion Foxwood is a traditional witch, conjure-man and faery seer. Born with the veil (the second sight), he was first exposed to faith-healing, root-doctoring, faery lore, and the second-sight practices of Southern and Appalachian culture growing up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. He has continued learning and teaching these spirit-doctoring practices in workshops, intensives, and lectures internationally and across America. He is the founder, and primary instructor, of the House of Brigh Faery Seership Institute, which offers a multi-year apprenticeship program in the lore, practices, traditions, and skills of the Tree of Enchantment. He is a co-founder of Conjure Crossroads, a collaboration between five seasoned root-workers and witches focused on preserving and promoting the healing and helping benefits of Southern root-work, witchcraft and other folk traditions. He is the founding Elder of Foxwood Temple, a coven dedicated to passing on the traditional witchcraft of his elders, and preserving the old ways of witchery. He is the author of several books on the subject of Faery Seership, witchcraft, and Southern conjure, with new projects constantly in development.
Deepening Our Magick: We Are Boats of Flesh on a River of Blood

Spirituality, an intimate relationship with the spirits; a love of life and respect for all its sacred forms; the use of practical magick and powerful prayer; and the holiness of the Earth, are all the fuel and form of my life and everything that flows out from it. It has been this way as far back as I can remember in my 53 years of life, and it is the lens through which I see my life now, and in the unfolding future.

I am a Traditional Witch, conjure-man and faery seer. I am a well-travelled lecturer and author of several books on those topics, and creator of a multi-year apprenticeship program aimed at core spirituality, mystical living, eco-spirituality, and the practice of real magick for real change; or, as I call it, “Magick with Muscle”. The intense soulfulness of my message is a direct result of being born into and growing up in Appalachian and Southern culture that was highly influenced by a romance of the land, the legacy of the Civil War and the African slave-trade, and the looming presence of racism and poverty. I was born with the veil (the second sight) into a family where the folk lore and customs of this gift were still alive in both my family and community culture. These elements made the living presence of Spirit; the spirits; and the powers of: prayer, spirit-doctoring, faith-healing, charms and spells, and other forms of "magick", very real and very necessary in a world with a lot of injustice and inequity.
