Embracing Love with the Major Arcana

I tried this exercise as an experiment with a tarot class around Valentine’s Day. It turned out to be a powerful way to heal the heart and open yourself to the high vibration of unconditional love. That’s something we all need!

 Here’s what to do.

Take your Major Arcana cards, with the Lovers excluded. Look through the Majors and choose the one that, to you at this moment, most clearly describes the energy of unconditional love.

Once you have chosen the card, spend a few moments with it. What can this card teach you about love?

Next, take the card, and hold it to your heart. Breathe its energy into your heart. Feel your heart chakra opening, clearing and expanding.

Let the energy of the card you chose work its magick with your heart!

Often, tarot magick is as easy as this. Simply by allowing the energy of the cards to become part of our energy, we create a change within ourselves.

But why did I exclude the Lovers card? Major Arcana 6 teaches many lessons about balance, choices, integration and the union of opposites.  Although it is named “Lovers”, many other Major Arcana cards more clearly express the energy of unconditional love. Removing the Lovers keeps us from making the easy-cheesy choice without really thinking.

Part of the magick of this exercise is in the conscious evaluation of the cards. Whatever card you choose to express the energy of unconditional love is the exact vibration that you most need at this time. In this way, you create a custom spell for your immediate needs.
